Anita Snuggs

August 18, 1938 ~ March 14, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Mary Anita Snuggs, 78, of Norwood, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Tuesday afternoon March 14, 2017 at CMC-Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Randall United Methodist Church in Norwood.  Rev. David McCauley will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00, Friday evening, Marc h 17, 2017 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Anita was born August 18, 1938 in Stanly County to the late Robert Glenn and Mary Evelyn Russell Snuggs. Anita was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 50 years; she worked her last years before retiring at Stanly Regional.

She was a lifelong and active member of Randall United Methodist Church, where she did a lot of work behind the scenes; she was caretaker of the church, Communion steward and in charge of the flowers for the church. She lived her life in the service of the church and Christian fellowship.

Anita was an avid Carolina Tarheels and Atlanta Braves fan!

Her caring spirit was seen in all that she did for others.  She was always concerned about everyone but herself. On Saturday, prior to her death on Tuesday, she kept saying, “I’m sorry” to her family. She thought she was a bother.

Anita had a special bond with her great-great-nephew, Zack Armet.  She and her now deceased sister, Betty Anne, kept Zack from his first birthday until Anita’s death.  Anita took Zack to school and picked him up every afternoon. Not only did Anita take care of Zack, she took care of Zack’s dog, Pinky.  She did not want Pinky to be alone during the day.  During Anita’s final hours, Zack was still hopeful that Anita would come home. He told the family they just needed someone during the day while he was at school and then when he got home, he could take care of her.  He felt that all she needed was peanut butter crackers and Ginger Ale to make her feel better, he had learned from Anita that they could help your sickness!   Zack, as well as the entire family will certainly miss Anita!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Russell Snuggs; sister, Betty Anne Snuggs; two nephews, Robert “Russell” Snuggs, Jr. and Glenn Bryant Snuggs.

She is survived by her nieces, Kathy Edwards of Ansonville and Cindy Gaddy and husband, Walter of Polkton, Marylin Snuggs of Albemarle; great nieces and nephews, Robbie Edwards (Kelly), Brandi Armet (Chris), Alicia Gaddy, Kristi Gaddy (Tony Eddins), Rusty Snuggs and Stephen Snuggs (Whitney Sue); great-great nieces and nephews, Kael and Kora Edwards, Zack Armet, Malia Gaddy and Aaron Eddins; sister in law, Evelyn Snuggs Dick of Norwood.

The family will be at the home of Brandi Armet, 22065 Oakwood Road, Albemarle, NC
