I didn't get to see Uncle Bob much. Distance has its ills. Although, his memory is strong. He helped me in an apprenticeship, in my early days. His teaching, training and patience, is greatly appreciated. Qualities fading in todays times. I hope Uncle Bob will be honored for his service in WWII. He didn't dwell on its horrors, but after 60 years, the memories were instant and vivid. I think his troop was know as the " Red Arrows". To think of my fox hunting Uncle Bob, stationed in a foreign land, ( Brisbane, Australia), storming the shores of New Quinea with a machine gun, is so far from the man i knew, who hunted with dogs. WWII took its toll and some of the events changed his life. He also was wounded by a bullet. I wonder if he has a medal for that? If any family knows, please let me know. If no one wants it, i would be pleased to add a picture of him in uniform and the medal to my geneology box. He is the first war veteran in my direct line.
Thanks to all that went to visit Uncle Bob. A special thanks to whomever is taking care of his final affairs. Bless you.

Although, it is sad to say goodby to Uncle Bob, I keep thinking that he is finally free from the bondage of his paralizing stroke that left him immobile for so many years. Now he is in the loving presence of our Lord, is reunited with dear Aunt Bobbie Ann and his brothers and sisters. Now he can finally see his Mama, who was taken from him in death when he was just a wee boy. Uncle Bob worked hard, but enjoyed many pleasant times trooping through the woods with his dogs. He was a man of faith who was devoted to his family and honorably served his country during WWII. For those of us who loved him dearly, his memory will always be admired and cherished.
